Question by CD: Recent quotes do not show up on Yahoo Finance home page?
My recent quotes box on the right side of the Finance home page does not display any quotes that I have recently looked at using the beta charts. However, if I only view the summary page or classic charts, my recently viewed quotes will show up in the quote box on the Yahoo Finance home page. How can I fix this?

Question by obiwandog: What is a good personal finance website to link all my accounts?
I am looking for a personal finance website that can link all my accounts for a single view. I read about one months ago that had a community feel to it wherein people categorized their transactions and then the system learned and could match similar transactions across the community – i.e. you tell it that Kroger is a grocery and it will categorize my Kroger spending as grocery.
I am looking for a simple site that is free and can bring some value other than just aggregating my data to one location.
Any help is good help – thanks in advance.

Question by starfallon@verizon.net: how do I delete companys in the Recent Quotes column of yahoo finance ?
all the info is tailored to adding symbols but there are no guidelines for purging old stuff.
Best answer:
Answer by Yada Yada Yada
For the recent stuff, it just keeps track of your most recent stocks that you’ve accessed as a convenience.
If you take a few moments to create a portfolio, you won’t need to keep typing in the quotes for stocks you’re looking for. PLUS, you’ll be able to edit any of your portfolios to get rid of old stuff.
Hope that helps!

Question by Jacqueline W: What Kind of Personal Finance Advisor Do I Need?
I know all of the titles, Accountant, CPA, Financial Advisor, Investment Broker…etc. But, I do not understand which one would be right for my situation. I really need someone like a “financial mentor” if there is such a thing. My situation: After waiting for 6 years, I have recently (yesterday) won an appeal for benefits. I wil be receiving a very large sum of money. I do NOT want to invest in real estate, or stocks, or money markets, or anything of that nature. I want to have an understanding of 1) how much should I put in a CD, 2) how much should I keep in checking/savings 3) should I purchase my leased vehicle 3) should I pay off my student loans 4) do I have to pay taxes…etc. What kind of professional would be able to help me with these questions? I have no one in my life that is responsible with money, no one I can trust to help me.
Thank you kindly
Other questions: Do I keep everything in one bank? What if I have a credit union and they only insure up to $ 100K? Can I have two separate CD’s?

You don’t need a professional – just some basic knowledge of personal financial management and investing. “Investing For Dummies” is an excellent starter book on investing. Suze Orman’s books on personal finances are also very good. You are your own best advisor. I have seen too many people get ripped off by advisors, but if you do feel you need one, find an independent advisor who works on an hourly basis. The commissioned ones will sell you what’s best for them, not what’s best for you.

Question by Xeboprime: McCain’s finance advisor supports terrorist funding?
In an effort to try and track down Terrorist money coming in to the US, President Clinton wanted oversight from the banking industry.
“Most experts say the funds used to finance the attacks here
probably came into this country in small amounts either through
wire transfers or through the use of brokers that belong to a
paperless underground banking system.”
http://lists.democracygroups.org/pipermail/rightwatch/2001q3/000121.html
ONE MAN stopped him: Phil Gramm, McCain’s financial adviser. In his support of deregulation of the banking industry, Gramm permitted bin Laden to fund the 9-11 terrorists when Clinton’s bill, if not stopped, may have been able to track them down.
The republican plan appears to be to monitor American Citizen’s library use but allow unfettered funding of terrorist groups operating in the US.

It’s all hearsay – no one can prove it – it wont be the first time your country has done it , many helped the IRA out – Reegan and others may very well have just given the Ira supporters in the US their blessings

Question by lethdola: What are some great personal finance books for young adults?
I’m still in college and know very little about personal finance. My parents manage to get by but I really question some of their decisions at times because I’m further in debt with loans than my friends in the same situation. I wanna manage my own finances with saving, investing, debt management, stocks. etc. What are some recommendations for good programs or books for this? Thanks.
Best answer:
Answer by WHAT
Without a doubt the best for me is TOTAL MONEY MAKE OVER, by Dave Ramsey. Learn how to live your life to become debt free, and especially start young, and be really free of credit interest in order to be financially stable early. You also become quite healthy for your retirement.
Check out his web site http://www.daveramsey.com.
